The ILO has prepared jointly with the WHO the Outline for the Development of National Programmes for Elimination of Asbestos-Related Diseases.

This Outline has been developped to give effect to the ILO 2006 Resolution on Asbestos adopted by the International Labour Conference in June 2006 and to the WHO position paper on elimination of asbestos related diseases.

The document is intended to assist countries in establishing their national programs for the elimination of asbestos-related diseases (NPEAD). It is a tool for increasing policy coherence for reducing and finally phasing out the use of asbestos and asbestos-containing materials.
