EU: Call for proposals: research aimed at assessing the economic dimension of occupational health and safety
15/01/2007
In late December 2006, the European Commission launched a call for proposals related to the evaluation of the economic dimension of occupational health and safety. This call took place in the context of the preparatory process for the adoption of the 7th Research Framework Programme, which officially is due to enter into force in March 2007.
The funded research projects will focus on the economic impact of health at work, particularly on the effects of quality of work and employment upon Europe’s competitiveness in a changing work environment [e.g. ageing of the workforce, gender balance, precarious situations and the downsizing of enterprises]. This includes issues such as the overall investment on risk prevention at work, business cases, costs and benefits associated with the improvement of the work environment including accidents at work, occupational diseases, related absenteeism, and the development of management and accounting tools within the occupational health and safety dimension. Applications must be submitted by 19 April 2007.
