The EU wants to improve the safety of young workers
On June 19th, the European Commission has launched a campaign aimed at improving the protection of young workers at the workplace. Statistics have revealed that this category of workers is more prone to injuries than older workers.
The aim of the "Safe Start!" campaign is to make employers and young workers more aware of occupational risks. According to the Commission, workers between 18 and 24 represent 75 million workers. They have a 50% higher probability of getting injured compared to older colleagues. The Commission explains these injuries by saying that they were caused by a lack of experience. The "Safe Start!" campaign has its own website. It supplies young workers with comprehensive information on the subject and is also useful to people concerned by this issue such as workers, employers, supervisors and parents.
