Possible link between asthma in children and their mother’s job
Findings published in the latest issue of Occupational and Environmental Medicine have revealed that the incidence of asthma in children could be triggered by their mother’s occupation.
A team consisting of Danish, Swedish and American researchers has found that children whose mothers had been exposed to organic solvents have a higher probability of getting asthma, hay fever and other respiratory disorders. These health hazards are likely to be found in certain types of occupations namely working in bakeries, in the manufacturing of confectionery, in dentistry, in the electrical and electronic industry, in bookbinding and dressmaking and sewing.
