Spain: More than 5 million workers exposed to carcinogens
ISTAS and the Trade Union Confederation "Comisiones Obreras" have published a report on workplace exposure to carcinogens. More than five million workers are exposed in Spain. The branch with the major quantity of workers exposed to carcinogens is the building industry. The most common agents are the sun, silica and tobacco smoke. On the basis of different assumptions, the quantity of fatalities caused by work-related cancers can vary from 2.000 to 9.000 per year.
