In order to stimulate the repression of corporate criminality against workers’ health and safety, the Spanish Government decides the appointment of a national public prosecutor. Mr Juan Manuel Oña Navarro will get the specific mission of coordinating and promoting public prosecution of crimes in occupational health and safety matters. This initiative is part of a tougher approach adopted by the Government. Every year about 1.000 Spanish workers die from a fatal accident and approximately 15.000 die as a consequence of work related diseases.
