France: 8% of cancers are caused by occupational exposure
A new study has shown that in France 8% of the cancers are caused by exposure to hazardous agents at the workplace. The study, released last March, revealed that 15.000 people die each year from occupational cancer. 50% of this figure is caused by exposure to asbestos which was banned in France in 1997. Between 50,000 and 100,000 deaths are expected by 2025. Almost 200.000 people are affected by exposure to wood dust. This figure represents 1% of the workers.
