19/12/2005.
Dissatified workers are exposed to physiological risk, according to a study achieved by the Lancaster University Management School and the Manchester Business School.
The research analyses factors such as the nature of work, wages, promotion opportunities, relations with colleagues etc. It reveals that unhappy workers are more at risk of suffering of burnout, loss of self-confidence, anxiety, depression.
Cary Cooper, one of the authors, points out the role played by new work organisation methods and technological progress. These changes have contributed to the development of a "workaholic" culture, according to the professor of the Lancaster University Management School.
