Italy: a survey on ill health among casual workers in Emilia-Romagna
A recent Italian survey indicates the strong prevalence of ill health among casual workers in Emilia-Romagna. The respondents were working under casual contracts (temporary agency workers, fix term contracts, “collaboration contract”, etc…). 63,8% were women and the average age was 31.8 years. Low back pain was reported by 69%, a general stress by 67.6%, anxiety by 59,5%. The survey is confirming recent data from Italian epidemiological studies on the very high prevalence of ill health among precarious workers.
The survey was organised by the prevention service of the local public health department.
