Italy: strong opposition against Berlusconi deregulation in health and safety
The Berlusconi Government Deregulation plan for the health and safety legislation has been criticised by the main umbrella coordination of professional health and safety practicioners. The CIIP (Consulta Interassociativa Italiana per la Prevenzione) adopted a large list of amendments and will make pressure on the Parlament and the Regional authorities to repel most of the “simplification” proposals made by the Berlusconi Governement.
On March 3, the Conference of Regional Authorities has rejected the draft proposed by the Berlusconi Government. Only three Regions expressed their support for the legislative simplification process.
On March 8, a provincial strike has been launched in Modena by the three main Italian Trade Union Confederations. Other actions are planned for the next days.
