France : A National Inter-professional Agreement was reached on stress at the workplace
15/07/2008
“To raise the level of awareness and understanding among employees, workers and their representatives of stress at work, to draw their attention on symptoms that could help detect stress-related problems at work at an early stage, to offer employers and workers a framework where stress-related problems at the workplace could be prevented, avoided, detected and approached”. These are the objectives of the inter-professional National Agreement reached by the French social partners on July 2, 2008.
This agreement is the French implementation of the European framework agreement on stress at work signed by the European social partners on October 8, 2004.
It stipulates that stress-related problems should be identified by analyzing factors such as work organisation and environment, communication and subjective factors. Trade Unions are expected to sign this agreement shortly.
