07/07/2008
This pilot study was carried out in several European Union Member States: Denmark, Finland, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, Germany and the United Kingdom. Based on interviews with company employees and managers, it examines knowledge of legislation in the area of health and safety in the workplace, the appropriateness of decision-making processes at the corporate level, stimulating and inhibiting factors, cost-benefit estimates, and proposals for changes in the legislation. According to this study, most companies think that the legal provisions (such as risk assessment, eyesight tests and worker information) are appropriate. They also positively assess the cost-benefit ratio.
