HESA seminar: a system to integrate Users' experience into Machinery Design - The forklift truck case study

The seminar wraps up a European research project on integrating users' experience into work equipment design done in selected Member States (Finland, France, Germany, Italy and the United Kingdom). The project focused on compiling five interview-based national reports to collect forklift truck users’ experiences using a methodology developed by Fabio Strambi, Manager of Local Health Authority N° 7 in Italy. The methodology was designed as a "system" to improve harmonized standards during their five-year review. It was first tested on woodworking machinery, and now on forklift trucks, but can be applied to any kind of work equipment.
At the time of writing, representatives from the European Commission’s DG Enterprise (G3 and C2 "Standardization” Units) and DG Employment ("Health and Safety at Work" Unit), the Bilbao Agency, UNICE and CEN Technical Committee 150 "Safety of Industrial Trucks", have confirmed their attendance.
The seminar also gives an opportunity to strengthen trade union involvement in the debate on work equipment standardization.
